In front of municipal elections, 5 nomination papers for the Mayor's candidature for the Tarab Municipality election and 51 nominations for male councilors and 9 for preserved women councilors. On Thursday, 3 November, Mayor and councilor candidates from morning till afternoon, upazila election officer and returning officer with their supporters. Lokman Hossain submitted the nomination papers.
Rupganj Upazila Election Officer Omar Faruque said that on Thursday, the mayor and councilor candidates are scheduled to submit the nomination papers and the last day. Awami League nominees Hasina Gazi, Nasiruddin Ahmed nominated as nominee, Sabbir Ahmed nominated by Islamic rule, present Mayor and Tarab municipal BNP general secretary Alhaj Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, Awami League leader Habibur Rahman Habib submitted the nomination papers. Apart from this, male councilors of 9 wards submitted the nomination papers for 51 posts and reserved women councilors. He said, the last day of the candidature of the candidates on December 5 and the withdrawal of candidacy on 13 December. The elections will be held on Wednesday December 30. There are 78,87,870 voters in 9 wards of the first class municipality. Among them 41,429 male voters and 37,468 female voters.
